When Trust Has Been Broken, Where Do You Go From Here?
Private. Confidential. Focused.
An affair can change everything. The betrayed partner may be asking — "What can I believe? Am I getting the whole truth? Why can't I stop thinking about what happened?"
The partner who had the affair may be asking — "How do I repair the damage? What do I need to do to rebuild trust? Can our relationship recover from this?"
The Affair Recovery Intensive at Dr. Kwame Institute provides focused, structured therapeutic support for couples navigating infidelity, betrayal trauma, broken trust, disclosure, and relationship repair.
After the discovery of an affair, waiting an entire week between therapy sessions can sometimes feel overwhelming. An Affair Recovery Intensive provides extended therapeutic time to address the crisis, establish emotional safety, and begin developing a structured path toward recovery.
The Affair Recovery Intensive integrates evidence-based couples therapy, betrayal-trauma treatment, attachment principles, emotional regulation, and structured trust-rebuilding strategies. The program is Gottman-Informed, incorporating the framework of:
Addressing the betrayal, accepting responsibility, answering necessary questions, establishing appropriate transparency, and beginning to create emotional safety.
Helping partners understand each other more deeply, improve communication, develop empathy, and rebuild emotional connection.
Supporting the gradual restoration of trust, commitment, intimacy, and a healthier relationship moving forward.
Every couple is different. Treatment is customized according to the couple's history, current crisis, clinical needs, and recovery goals.
We begin with a brief confidential consultation to determine whether the Affair Recovery Intensive may be appropriate for your situation.
Both partners complete intake information and relationship assessments before the intensive, allowing therapy time to focus on understanding the findings and beginning treatment.
When clinically appropriate, individual meetings with each partner may be incorporated as part of the assessment and treatment-planning process.
The couple participates in concentrated therapeutic sessions designed around their specific relationship, the nature of the betrayal, and their recovery needs.
Couples leave with clearly identified next steps, boundaries, recovery goals, trust-building strategies, and recommendations for continued healing.
Follow-up sessions may be recommended to reinforce progress, evaluate the recovery plan, and address issues that emerge following the intensive.
A focused experience for couples needing concentrated assessment, stabilization, clarity, and immediate direction.
Our primary option for couples needing deeper work around betrayal trauma, truth, accountability, emotional safety, transparency, trust, and relationship repair.
Designed for couples facing more complex betrayal histories, significant relationship injuries, or situations requiring additional concentrated therapeutic work.
Virtual and in-person options are available for eligible couples in Georgia.
An intensive is not appropriate for every couple. A confidential screening process helps determine whether intensive treatment is clinically appropriate and safe for your relationship.
The intensive gave us the time and structure we needed to talk about issues we had been unable to work through on our own. We left with greater clarity and practical steps for moving forward.
We came in hurt, confused, and unsure about what would happen to our relationship. The intensive helped us slow things down, understand what we were experiencing, and begin rebuilding communication and trust.
Having concentrated time together made a difference for us. We were able to address difficult questions, understand the pain more clearly, and leave with a structured plan for continuing our recovery.
Dr. Kwame specializes in helping couples and families navigate relationship distress, affairs, betrayal, intimacy concerns, trauma, communication difficulties, and broken trust.
His clinical approach integrates evidence-based couples therapy, Gottman-informed relationship interventions, trauma-informed care, attachment principles, relationship assessment, and structured affair-recovery strategies.

You do not have to solve everything today. The first step is creating enough truth, safety, understanding, and clarity to make healthier decisions about what comes next.
